Glorious GPBT Olive Keycaps Review: A Fresh Green for Your Setup

Green is having a moment in the mechanical keyboard world, and Glorious has answered the call with the GPBT Olive keycaps. These dye-sublimated PBT caps bring a muted, earthy olive tone that stands out without screaming for attention. But are they the right choice for your setup? In this review, we'll break down the color, build quality, typing feel, and value to help you decide.

Whether you're building a nature-inspired battlestation or just want a break from the usual black and white, the GPBT Olive set offers something fresh. We've spent time with these keycaps, and here's our honest take.

First Impressions: The Olive Colorway

The moment you unbox the Glorious GPBT Olive keycaps, the color hits you. It's a sophisticated, slightly desaturated green that leans more toward a true olive – think military green but with a touch more warmth. Unlike brighter greens that can feel gamer-ish, this shade feels mature and versatile. It pairs beautifully with wooden desks, black or white cases, and even other accent colors like cream or beige.

The set includes a standard full-size layout with 104 keys, plus a few extra novelty keys to spice things up. The legends are crisp and legible, thanks to the dye-sublimation process that fuses the ink into the PBT plastic. This means the lettering won't fade or wear off over time, even after heavy use.

• True olive green with a subtle matte finish
• Dye-sublimated legends for long-lasting durability
• Includes extra novelty keys for customization

Build Quality and Typing Feel

Glorious uses thick PBT plastic for these keycaps, and it shows. The walls are sturdy, and the texture is pleasantly grainy – not too rough, not too smooth. This provides a solid grip for your fingertips and reduces the chance of slipping during intense gaming sessions. The keycaps are compatible with Cherry MX-style switches, so they'll fit on most mechanical keyboards, including the GMMK series.

When typing, the sound profile is deeper and more satisfying than thin ABS caps. The thickness adds a bit of heft, which translates to a more premium feel. If you're using a keyboard like the GMMK 3 PRO Prebuilt MX Mechanical Wired/Wireless Keyboard, these caps will complement the stock switches nicely. However, if you prefer a lighter, more clacky sound, you might want to consider thinner options.

Comparing to Other Green Keycaps

Glorious offers several green-themed keycap sets, and it's worth knowing how the Olive set stacks up. For instance, the Glorious GPBT Rain Forest V2 Keycaps feature a deeper, more vibrant forest green with a mix of light and dark shades. If you want a bolder look, that set might be more your style. On the other hand, the Glorious GPBT Grapefruit V2 Keycaps bring a citrusy twist with pink and orange accents – a completely different vibe.

What sets the Olive set apart is its subtlety. It's not trying to be the loudest thing on your desk. Instead, it offers a refined, earthy tone that can make your setup feel more grounded and cohesive. If you're into minimalist or nature-inspired themes, the Olive set is a strong contender.

Who Should Buy the Glorious GPBT Olive Keycaps?

These keycaps are perfect for anyone who loves green but wants something a bit more understated than the typical 'gamer green.' They're also great for those who appreciate quality PBT material and want a set that will last for years. If you're pairing them with a white or black keyboard, they'll look sharp. If you have a wooden desk, the olive tone will blend beautifully.

However, if you're looking for a set with more color variety – like the Glorious GPBT Ocean V2 Keycaps with their blue and teal tones – you might want to explore other options. The Olive set is fairly monochrome, with only subtle variations in shade. But for a cohesive, single-color look, it's hard to beat.

In the end, the Glorious GPBT Olive keycaps deliver exactly what they promise: a high-quality, beautifully colored set of PBT caps that bring a touch of nature to your desk. With their durable construction and timeless olive hue, they're a worthy upgrade for any mechanical keyboard enthusiast.
