Glorious GPBT Olive Dye Sublimated Keycaps: Review and Impressions

If you're looking to give your mechanical keyboard a fresh, earthy aesthetic without sacrificing durability, the Glorious GPBT Olive dye sublimated keycaps are worth a closer look. As part of Glorious's expanding GPBT lineup, this set brings a muted olive green palette that stands out from the usual black or white keycaps while remaining tastefully understated.

In this review, we'll dive into the build quality, sound profile, and overall typing experience of the Glorious GPBT Olive keycaps. We'll also compare them to other popular GPBT sets and help you decide if they're the right upgrade for your setup.

Unboxing and First Impressions

The Glorious GPBT Olive keycaps arrive in a sturdy, minimalist box that protects the caps during shipping. Inside, you'll find the full 129-key set, including all the standard ANSI and ISO keys, plus a few extra novelty caps for that personal touch. The olive green color is consistent across all keys, with a subtle texture that feels premium right out of the box.

The dye sublimation process ensures the legends are crisp and vibrant, and they won't fade or wear off over time. The PBT material has a slight roughness that provides a good grip for your fingers, which is a welcome improvement over the smooth, shiny ABS caps that often come stock on many keyboards.

• Full 129-key set with compatibility for most layouts
• Dye sublimated legends for long-lasting clarity
• PBT material with a textured, non-slip finish

Build Quality and Material

These keycaps are made from thick, durable PBT plastic, which is known for its resistance to shine and wear. The walls of the keycaps are notably thick, which not only adds to their durability but also contributes to a deeper, more satisfying sound when typing. The stems are well-molded and fit snugly on Cherry MX-style switches, providing a secure fit without being overly tight.

The dye sublimation process is top-notch, with no visible imperfections or bleeding on the legends. The olive green color is uniform across all keys, and the spacebar is perfectly straight, indicating good manufacturing quality control. Overall, the build quality is on par with other high-end keycap sets in the same price range.

• Thick PBT walls reduce key wobble and improve acoustics
• Compatible with Cherry MX and most clone switches
• Consistent color and clean legends across the set

Sound and Typing Experience

When installed on a keyboard with linear switches, the Glorious GPBT Olive keycaps produce a pleasant, deep thock that many enthusiasts prefer. The thick PBT material absorbs some of the high-pitched clatter, resulting in a more muted and refined sound. On tactile switches, the bump feels more pronounced due to the added weight of the caps, which can enhance the typing experience.

The texture of the keycaps provides a good balance between grip and smoothness, making them comfortable for long typing sessions. The profile is the standard OEM height, which is familiar to most users and requires no adjustment period. Whether you're gaming or typing, these keycaps feel solid and responsive.

• Deeper, more satisfying sound compared to stock ABS caps
• OEM profile is comfortable for most users
• Textured surface reduces finger fatigue

Comparison with Other GPBT Sets

The Glorious GPBT line includes several colorways, such as the Pastel, Celestial Fire, and Ink Noir sets. While each has its own aesthetic, the Olive set offers a unique, earthy tone that is less common in the market. Compared to the Glorious GPBT Pastel Dye Sublimated Keycaps, the Olive set is more subdued and versatile, making it a great choice for a professional or minimalist setup.

If you're looking for something with more visual flair, the Glorious GPBT Celestial Fire V2 Keycaps offer a vibrant gradient that stands out, but the Olive set is more understated and might appeal to those who prefer a classic look. Both sets share the same high-quality PBT construction and dye sublimation, so your choice ultimately comes down to color preference.

• Olive offers a unique, earthy alternative to standard black or white
• Pastel is lighter and more playful, while Olive is more subdued
• Celestial Fire V2 is more vibrant and eye-catching

Compatibility and Installation

The Glorious GPBT Olive keycaps are compatible with most mechanical keyboards that use Cherry MX-style switches, including popular models from Glorious, Keychron, Ducky, and many others. The set includes all necessary keys for both ANSI and ISO layouts, so you can use it on a wide range of boards.

Installation is straightforward: simply remove your old keycaps using a keycap puller, align the new caps on the switches, and press down until they click into place. The stems are designed to fit snugly but not too tight, so you won't have to worry about damaging your switches. If you're planning to upgrade your keyboard, consider pairing these keycaps with a Customizable Mechanical Gaming Keyboard 75% for a complete build.

For those who want to take customization further, the GMMK PRO FlexKit Custom 75% Mechanical Keyboard Kit allows you to build your own board, and these keycaps would be a perfect finishing touch.

• Works with most MX-style switches
• Includes keys for ANSI and ISO layouts
• Easy installation with a keycap puller
